Roxana was the wife of Alexander the Great, the great Greek conqueror.
In 326 BC, Alexander the Great invaded India. It is said that during this time, Roxana send a sacred thread to King Porus pleading him not to harm Alexander in the battlefield.
Porus keeps the promise given to him by Roxana and refused to fight with Alexander when the latter confronted him in the battlefield. Porus lost the Battle of River Hydaspes, but he gained Alexander's respect.
After Alexander died, Porus became a loyal Macedoniam satrap and served Alexander's kingdom even after he died.
