The Cunning Wolf

After intense summers, the weather finally began to change. One day it was mildly cloudy and the weather was cool and pleasing. So a group of friends decided to go for an excursion to the forest. They carried various eatables with themselves.

The group went around roaming in forest. They are as they walked through the woods. During noon time, they camped and ate the food they brought. The food didn't lasted and the people of the group realised that they were left with no food for the dinner.

One of the members of the group decided to go and hunt for the dinner. He said, "We can hunt and fetch some fresh meat. We can make a fire here and roast it. It would be a great adventure for all of us". The members agreed with him.

The man went to the lakeside with his club. He laid down as if he was dead and waited for animal to come near the lake for drinking water.

On the other side, some of the members of the group decided to collect firewood, while others laid back to rest and wait for them.

The man kept waiting near the lakeside. After sometime, a group of wolves came near the lake. They drank water in turns. One of them saw the man lying on the lakeside. He immediately brought it to the attention of the entire group. They kept a close eye on the man. After sometime, the head of the wolves said, "This man does not seem to be dead. It looks like he is playing trick. I would go and check him, while you all wait here".

The head of the wolves was very sharp eyed and cunning. He went near the man and pulled the club he was holding cautiously. The man was now too scared to move, or hit the wolf with the club, knowing that an entire hound was around him. They could attack him collectively and tear him to pieces.

Seeing the club pulled back, the head of wolves yelped loudly to alert his group and immediately ran away from the place. He cried back, "You are trying to trick us to kill us. You were falsely pretending to be dead".

Hearing this the man, got on his toes immediately and attacked the wolf with his club. However, the club missed the target and the wolf ran away safely. He waited for some other animal to turn up but of them did.

It was late evening by now. The man got frustrated and returned to his group empty handed. He said, "I tried tricking the animals, but they outsmart me".

The group slept hungry in their camp that night.
