59. Aesop's Fables - The Fox Without a Tail

One day a fox was roaming around in the forest when it came across a large log lying on the ground.

The log had a wedge and was tied with ropes by the woodsmen for carrying it. The fox started jumping over the log. When it saw the wedge, it tried pulling it out with its jaws. It was well inserted and the fox tried hard. Suddenly the wedge came out and the fox jumped over. But in haste its tail was caught in the incision. The unfortunate fox lost it tail.

The fox was left with a small stump of tail. He cried at first and kept wondering how he would appear before his friends and family. It passed few days alone without going into the main jungle area.

After few days, the fox gathered all its strength and decided to return home. He was determined to put a bold face before his kith and kin.

After returning, the fox summoned all his friends and family members. He held a meeting, where he proudly said, 'Dear all, J have called this meeting to propose a change for all of us. As you can see I recently trimmed off my tail. There is a lot more to this. The tails are an hindrance for all of us. Our enemies pursue us easily with the tails. They interfere while we need to talk to each other or sit down  to have food. Therefore, I suggest that we all trim our tails for our good.

The leash of foxes nodded. They started discussing among themselves. Just then, an old fox rose up and said, 'Tail is like an ornament for us. It serves to protect and balance our body. It is a natural gift to us. I think, you would have never suggested us to get rid of our tails if you would have not lost your in the accident'.

The fox was startled. He felt embrassed. The entire leash of foxes starting laughing out loudly on the tailess fox.

Moral: Distrust an interested advice.
