Tenali Raman

Tenali Rama: Tenali Ramalinga (original name: Garlapati Tenali ) was a court-poet of the Vijayanagara Empire in the 16th century CE. He was one of the Ashtadiggajas who belonged to the court of Krishnadeva Raya. Astadiggajas is the collective title given to the eight Telugu poets in the court of the emperor Sri Krishnadevaraya. He is noted for brilliance and wit and for mocking other poets and great personalities. He was also a Shaivaite (whorship - Shiva)
King Krishnadevaraya: He ruled the Vijayanagara empire from 1509 until his death in 1529. Vijayanagara is the northern of part of Indian state which is now known as Karnataka. He was one of the greatest statesmen which medieval South India had produced. Much information about his reign comes from the accounts of Portuguese travelers.

Chatur Pandit: Tenali Raman was known far and wide for eminent wits and brilliance. He often won accolades and prizes from King Krishnadevaraya. Due to the attention and position enjoyed by Tenali Raman, many ministers in the court envied him. Chatur Pandit was one of the court rivals of Tenali Raman.
