When Tosui grew old and weak, one of his friend helped him to earn his livilihood without begging. Here is the story narrating how Tosui earned living with begging.
Tosui learned how to make vinegar from rice. He continued doing this until he died.
One day, when Tosui was making vinegar a beggars gave him Buddha's picture. Tosui hung the picture on the hut wall and wrote a message near it. The message was - 'Buddha
My room is small and narrow. I can only ask you to remain here as a transient. However, I am not asking for rebirth in your paradise".
