5.8 Panchtantra - The Bird with Two Heads

Long time ago, there lived a strange bird who had two heads. Her name was Bharuna.

One afternoon, when Bharuna was wandering along the banks of the forest river, she found a beautiful golden red fruit. One of the heads of Bharuna said, "The fruit looks good and delicious. I am lucky to have found it" and it started eating the fruit hurriedly.

Seeing this, the other head said, "Let me taste the wonderful fruit as well. I feel it is delicious."

But the first head was selfish and cunningly. He replied, "It does not matters who eats this fruit as it will eventually go to the common stomach we both have. Besides, it was me who found the fruit first and hence I would eat the fruit." The other head felt sad hearing this.

After someday, the other head found a tree bearing some poisonous fruits. He took the fruit and told the first head, "I have found this fruit and will eat it. Since we have the same stomach you will bear the results of eating this fruit with me".

The first head was alarmed to hear this. He pleaded, "I request you not to eat this poisonous fruit as it will kill both of us".

But the second head was angry and revengeful. He ate the fruit and both of them died.

Moral: Share good things with others. One should not be selfish and act revengefully as it would harm others and self.
