151. Aesop's Fables - The Hen and the Swallow

Once there lived a hen and swallow near a lake in the forest. They were good friends and often talked to each other.

One day, when was searching for food around the lake she saw a hollow under the tree which stood bear the lake. The hole was once occupied by a viper, but appeared abandoned. So the hen went near the hole to rest there for a while. When she reached there, she saw some eggs lying there. The hen was very kind and was filled with pity when she saw the eggs. So she began warming them.

When the hen's friend swallow came to see her one day, and found her incubating the viper's eggs, she was alarmed.

The vipers eggs had began developing cracks and were on verge of hatching. The swallow cried in anguish, 'Friend! You have been very foolish to incubate these viper's eggs. They have began atchibg and will soon grow to inflict you and other beings around here'.
