157. Aesop Fables - The Hunter And The Woodcutter

One day a hunter was roaming in a forest in search of a lion. The hunter was timid and feared facing the lion. So he looked for the tracks of the lion to reach it secretly.

In the forest, a woodcutter was axing a tree. The hunter asked the woodcutter, 'I am searching for a lion. Have you seen his trail anywhere around?'

The woodcutter said, 'Friend! Do not worry about the trail. I know where the lion rests everyday. I will lead you there'.

The hunter was sacred to hear the woodcutter. The thought of facing the lion turned him pale and wordless.
He stammered with fear, 'I don't want to see the lion. I am only looking for its trail. Thank you friend!'

That day the hunter returned home empty handed.

Moral : We should do what suits our character and attitude.

Proverb: People are not always as brave as they say they are.
