Once there lived an ant in garden. One morning, the ant went out of her anthill in search if food. The sun was shinning, and as the ant moved around searching good, she saw a chrysalis which was nearing metamorphosis. The ant saw the chrysalis and said, 'I pity you little creature! While I had been free to move around and crawl even the tallest trees, you lie encapsulated in this small shell with the freedom to move only your few joints if your scaly rail'.
The chrysalis heard the ant, but he made not attempt to reply her.
Few days later, the ant passed by the same way again. She noticed a broken shell and realised that the chrysalis had moved away or it may have been killed by a predator. All this while, the ant kept thinking and moving, when she suddenly realised that a shadow was falling on her. She looked up and saw a beautiful butterfly moving happily and freely around in the air.
The butterfly called the ant and said, 'Friend, you came to me few days back. I have left the shell behind, and now I am free to sit on branches and flowers of huge tree, and fly around freely. I pity you friend! You can only crawl on the surfaces unlike me. I can fly higher than you can crawl and listen to my voice. I can smell and merry around beautiful flowers, while you move in mud and on stones. I pity you little ant'. Saying this the butterfly flew far happily, while the ant was left behind wondering.
Moral: Do not get carried away by appearances, as they can be deceptive.
