Once there was a war and the enemy armies besieged the capital city. The chief called the inhabitants and said, 'People, it is the time your country needs you. Our capital city has been besieged by the enemy troops from all sides. I request my people to consider ideas to protect our capital. Speak , speak for your country's defence!'
The people started discussing among themselves. After a while, a bricklayer stood up and said, 'Chief! I seek your permission to speak in the matter'. The chief nodded. The bricklayer said, 'Let us lay a brick boundary on the periphery. The bricks are affordable and best material for effecting a wall for defence'.
A person who was a carpenter by profession heard this. He immediately sprang up and said, 'Chief, we can use wood instead of bricks for making the line of defence'.
Heading this a currier stood up and said, "Chief, neither the bricks nor the wood can provide resistance as good as hides can. Therefore, I insist use of leather for protecting the city'.
The chief was wordless. He went back to the king's court to seek appropriate means of protecting the city.
Moral: Every man thinks for himself.
