One day the north wind went to meet the sun. They talked for a long time and shared their experiences. The north wind narrated how powerfully she wrecked ships in the sea and devastated nearshore dwelling. The sun was offended. He said, 'Sister wind, I am also powerful. In fact no one can stand by me'. Hearing this the wind became angry. An argument began them, and they made a bet.
The wind said, ' I bet I can prove to be more powerful than you are by stripping off this wayfaring man we can see down on the Earth of his clothes'.
The sun said, 'If I strip his clothes first, it will prove that I am more powerful than you are. You will loose the bet in that case. Do you agree?'
The wind agreed with the sun. She blew with all the force to sea traveler to take off his robe. But the traveller did not take his robe off, instead he covered himself with shawl to keep off the wind. The wind lost and told the sun, 'let me if you can persuade this man to take off his clothes and ein tge bet'.
The sun smiled at the wind and suddenly shone with all its warmth. The traveller could not take the heat and took off his robe. After a while he grew so troubled with the heat that he took off all his clothes and jumped into the stream for relaxing bath.
The sun smiled at the wind and said, 'Sister wind, you forced him to undress, while I calmy persuaded him for the same. It is better to persuade people to do something than to force them for the same. I win the bet we made'.
The wind went back to its home sadly.
Moral: Persuasion is
better than force.
