78. Aesop's Fables - The Mouse, the Frog, and the Hawk

Once there lived a little mouse in a house.

One noon it was raining and the mouse was resting in his hole, he heard a strange sound. It was a loud croaking sound that echoed around. The mouse became afraid first and pulled himself back into his hole. When it stopped raining, the mouse came out and saw a frog resting under the tree in the backyard of the house.

The frog saw the little mouse and smiled at him. They became friends and played around everyday. The frog went to its home in water everyday and came again to play with the mouse.

One day, the frog thought of tricking the mouse. That day when he meet the mouse, he firmly held the mouse's foot with his forearm. The frog now leapt around and the mouse enjoyed with him. Then the frog took the mouse to a nearby meadow, where the frog ate his food, while the mouse remained hungry.

After this, the frog dragged the mouse to the pond, where he lived with his family and friends. The frog jumped into the pond dragging the mouse with him. He enjoyed croaking loudly and dipped up and down with the little mouse happily. The mouse was however, out of his breath. Soon he became very weary and drowned in the water. When the frog realised that his friend was not responding to his antics, he stopped to see him. He left his foot, and found him out of breadth. The little mouse was dead and its body came floating on the surface of the water.
Soon a pair of hawks saw the dead mouse. One of them flew towards the pond and carried away the dead mouse. The frog who came out to see his friend, was caught by the another hawk.

Moral: Befriend with people who understand you. A harmful match makes a harmful catch.
