Once there lived a pigeon in a forest.
One year there was no rain, and the water in forest river
dried up. Many animals and birds died due to thirst. One day, the pigeon was greatly
troubled by thirst. So he flew to the nearby village in search of water.
The village festival was going on. There was a vendor shop
selling various drinks to heat wrecked customers. The shop had displayed a
large goblet of water painted on a signboard.
When the pigeon saw the signboard, he though it was water
and flew towards it with all its force. He dashed against the signboard and
injured himself terribly. His wings tore off and he fell on the ground. After
sometime, the pigeon died in pain.
Moral: Do not let your zeal
surpass your discretion (the ability to differentiate between right and wrong).
