After a long dry summer, people eagerly waicourtier'ss. One night the clouds secretly creeper in and it rained heavily.
The following morning was fresh and enchanting. Pleasant breeze blew. The grass was moist and leaves, flowers seemed to have gained a new life.
Akbar felt the pleasant breeze coming inside his chambers. He peeped through the window and saw the pleasing weather.
Akbar called Birbal. They went out for a walk in the royal garden with other courtiers. The poets appreciated the hues of nature and recited poems to entertain the emperor.
While walking behind Akbar, one of the poets said, 'My Majesty! See this beautiful flower. It has blossomed to its full glory. No man can ever create such a beautiful thing'.
Akbar too admired the flower. He agreed with the poet saying, 'Indeed, it is only nature that create such beautiful things with such precision'.
Birbal was lisyening to them interrupted and said, 'I do not agree with your belief. Man is gifted by nature with many talents. I am sure there is someone who can create an object comparable to this flower in its beauty'.
Akbar said, 'Birbal I donot agree with you. Its nature work that you see here. No human can work in equal standing'.
Birbal said nothing. Soon it started raining and they all returned to the court.
Days passed by. One day Birbal presented a highly skilled craftsman. The craftsman brought with him a meticously crafted piece of art. It was a bunch of flowers carved out of marble. It shone brilliantly and was an exemply piece of art. When Akbar saw it, he was enthrilled. He asked his servants to accept the piece of art and gracefully rewarded the craftsman with one thousand gold coins.
After a craftman went, a small boy came to Akbar's court with a beautiful bunch of fresh flowers. The petals of the flowers were dew laiden and they spread a wonderful aroma as the boy entered. Akbar was very happy to see the flowers. He accepted them and gave the boy a silver coin.
When the boy left Birbal said, 'The carved flowers were more valued than the real ones'.
The emperor laughed out and so did all his courtiers.
