When Elephants began Flying

Long long back in time, the God thought of creating the world. So he made the Earth. He made it round like a ball and gave it an axis. He made the Earth learn how to spin on its axis, so that day may dawn and the night may fall each day. He positioned the Earth around the sun to shine during day. He gave her a moon to let it shine during night. He taught the Earth to revolve around the sun so that it had seasons. Thus, the Earth began receiving light and warmth from sun and moon. Seasons began their cycle.

God gave Earth water, but as there were no mountains, the entire Earth was covered by water. Thus God thought of creating mountains. But the mountains were too heavy tocreaturesed and carried. So God called his favorite vechile, the elephant to carry the mountains to the Earth.

The elephants were gaint animals. They had wings and could fly around. They carried the mountains to the Earth and now Earth had land to live upon.

The elephants came and told God that the Earth had less free air to breath in. So God asked the air God to send a big puff of air to Earth. The Earth was now ready to have life on it.

Thus God send seeds of life on Earth. Slowly the first organism appeared on the Earth. They propagated and life began flourishing on tge Earth. Over the years, plants appeared. They were followed by the animals and birds. They birds liked the tree. They began living on the tree and flew around happily. Years passed by and gradually human begans to evolve on Earth.

First the human dwelled the caves and ate raw  meat. However, they were intelligent. They discovered wheels, fire, metals and gradually began living in the thached settlements. It was the beginning of civilization. The humans had farms, huts, stables around them.

One day, the elephants of God thought of revisiting the Earth. So they flew with all their speed and might in the Earth. They were thrilled to see the evolved face of the Earth. They went around playing in the rivers and splashed water all around they relished the raw green and ripe yellow bannas. They often made odd sounds like cooing, and at times went trumping around. They swirled their trunks around, waggled their tails, fly short distances and bumped around. They often bumped into the paddy fields destroying crops, fell trees while playing, and landed on roofs of the huts causing massive destruction. The people cried helplessly. They wondered how to handle these gaint creatures.

One day people decided to gather and pray to God to protect them from the warth of these elephants. While the elephants themselves had no clue of the havoc they had been causing, the Gods heard the voices of humans and decided to intervene.

One day the God send his messenger bird to the elephants, inviting them for a grand feast. The elephants were pleased and accepted the invitation.

When the day came, the elephants gathered and flew to the kingdom of heaven. The Gods welcomed them and appreciated them for coming. The elephants were elated to see the food. They ate and ate, until they were overfilled, and began rolling over their big bellies and bums. Soon all of them fell asleep. The sound of their snoring filled the air....is that amusing !..?

The God came over and found that the elephants were fast asleep. He quietly incised the wings of the elephants. From that day on, the elephants lost their wings and became terrestrial.

The God called the peacock and gave it the two wings. The peacock became the king of birds with its beautiful brillant feathers and danced gracefully. She became the vechile of Lord Kartik, the elder son of Shiva Parvati and brother of Ganesha.

The God was left with two wings. When he saw the tormented banana tree in the Earth, he repaired them using the remaing large wings. From that day on, the banana tree came to have big green leaves.
