147. Aesop's Fables - The Gardener and the Dog

One day while a gardener was toiling in the garden, the master's dog came running around.

The garden had a well. The dog while running around, suddenly fell into the well. The gardener heard the dog's cry and rushed to help him. However, the dog thought that the gardener was attempting to push him further down. It bitterly bit the gardener.

The gardener cried in pain and climbed up the stairs of well. He yelled, 'Silly creature! It was my mistake to offer you help. If you want to perish, none can help you'.

Moral: We should understand the good intention behind any act. It never pay to be ungrateful and unjust.
