The Right to say no

Once there lived a woman named Aryashree with her family in a village.

One noon, when it was time to take meal, a beggar came at their door, and begged for alms. Aryashree who was standing nwar the corridoor refused to give anything to the beggar.

'Please ask where else, I have nothing to give you', sayibg this Aryashree asked for pardon and went inside. But her mother in law heard her and became very angry. She askee Aryashree, 'I am the mistress of this house. You are no one to refuse alms to the beggar'.

Aryashree broke into teaes and ran inside without arguing with her monther in law.

The beggar who had been listening, waited for the lady to turn up with something in kind or cash.

When the beggar saw the lady, he said, 'You are very kind hearted. Make God bless you! I asked her only for a coin for buying food, but I was unaware that she us not the mistress of the house'.

The angry lady replied, 'I am the mistress of this house. She just got married and came here. But, listen I am here to tell you that I am not here to give you something. Please go from my door. I am the mistress and I have to tell you the same.'

The lady slammed the door on beggar's face and went inside.

The beggar stared back. He walked away in discontentment and surprise.
