80. Aesop's Fables - The Manslayer

One day a man escaped into the home of his enemy and murdered him. He ran away fearing punishment.

He was hide himself in the thick countryside forests, while the relatives of the man he murdered pursued him continuously. He roamed the forest and one day reached the river Nile. The man a lion resting near the banks of the river and climbed a tree in fear of being caught and killed by the lion.

As he seated himself on the branch of the tree, he saw a snake coiled around the hanging branch of the tree. The snake which was sleepy, came on alert sensing movement on the tree. The man was alarmed and he jumped into the river to escape the snake. The river had many alligators and crocodiles which attacked and killed the man soon as he jumped into the river.

Thus the earth (land), the air (tree branches), and the water (river) refused shelter to the manslayer.

Moral: Evil meets evil end.
