One day the Gods disputed among themselves over human nature.
Lord Jupiter said, 'The mortals can change their nature and behavior over time'. But Lord Venus countered him and said, 'No, the nature of mortals cannot change'. The argument went on for quite sometime, until Lord Jupiter said, 'Let us put our argument to trial. Here is a cat. I shall convert it into a maiden. Let's see if the nature of this cat changes as a maiden.
Lord Jupiter send the cat to Earth. She wedded a young man and became his wife.
After their wedding, the couple sat down for the wedding-feast. Lord Jupiter and Venus kept onlooking the maiden.
Pleased by her ways, Lord Jupiter proudly said, 'Look how her nature has undergone a change. She more presentable and humble. Who could say she was a cat sometime back?'
Hearing Jupiter Lord Venus said, 'I suggest we let a mouse on their table. It would be a real test of her nature'.
Lord Jupiter agreed and they let a mouse loose in the feasting table.
Soon as the maiden saw the mouse, she jumped from her seat and pounced in the mouse. The wedding guests were alarmed.
Lord Venus laughed and said, 'The mortals are bound to their nature'.
Moral: Nature will never be out.
