One day during the discourse, a student approached the Zen master and said, 'Master, my loose my temper very soon. I do not know how to control it. Help me get rid of it. Enlighten me'.
The master said, 'Child, there is a strange thing you have. Do you know what it is?'
The student denied.
The master said, 'You have that thing, but it does not belongs to you. In fact you are processed by it. It overcomes your true self. Let it go child. It does not belongs to you. Do not let something that does not belong to you to trouble you'.
The student wondered for a while and was enlightened.
Thus he gradually overcame his anger and let it go. He did not let it overtake him. Over a period of time he developed a calm and placid
temperament.
