One day after the court session was over, Birbal took his way back to home.
While he was walked a coin fell off from his pockets. Birbal heard the sound and immediately starting looking for the coin. It was the only money he had at that time.
While Birbal searched the coin, Akbar stood on the patio with one of his courtiers Muraad.
Muraad was one of his bitterest enemies of Birbal. He took it as an opportunity to poison the emperor's ears.
In a tone filled with fear Muraad whispered in Akbar's ears, 'My Majesty, look how miser Birbal is. You are indeed so kind and generous towards him, and have bestowed him with so much money. But see how keenly he is after the copper coin. He is unwilling to let it go'.
Birbal overhead Muraad as his voice echoed across the vast royal chambers. He turned around and said, 'My Majesty, it is indeed true that you have bestowed me with enough money. I am fortunate to serve you. I respect you for everything you have done for me as your courtier and friend. Therefore I do not want people to trample upon the coin which bears your resemblance'.
Akbar was pleased to hear Birbal's reply. He took out his diamond ring and gave it to Birbal. Birbal continued searching for the coin, until he saw it lying under a stone.
