159. Aesop's Tales : The Fox And The Grapes

Once there lived a fox in a jungle.

One afternoon the fox was very hungry and went around searching for food.

It came near a vineyard, where it saw a bunch of ripe grapes hanging from a branch of grapevine. The fox was very hungry and wanted to eat the grapes.

The hungry fox jumped up to pick the grapes. But the branch was high and fox did not reach them. So it tried again and jumped with all its strength but failed. It tried many times but failed. After sometime the fox was tired and worn out. It said, "These grapes are sour. I don't want to eat them" and walked away.

Moral : It is easy to despise what cannot be obtained.
